Our Mission

To empower historically-excluded communities to become SELF-SUFFICIENT through community organizing and business development.

Our Approach

Empowering communities through equity, collaboration, leadership, and lasting change.

Community-Led Solutions:

Our programs are developed in collaboration with community members, respecting their lived experiences, and placing their voices at the center of our work. By partnering with local leaders, community advocates, and residents, we ensure that our initiatives reflect and respond to the unique needs and priorities of each community we serve.

Capacity Building & Leadership Development:

We are committed to empowering individuals with the skills, knowledge, and resources they need to create change. Through programs like our Community Coach Training and business workshops, we provide leadership development and professional support, enabling community members to become agents of transformation within their neighborhoods and beyond.

Policy Advocacy & Systems Change:

We recognize that addressing root causes of inequity requires challenging and reshaping existing systems. Through partnerships with organizations, local governments, and policymakers, SCA advocates for policies that advance racial and economic equity. By tackling the systemic barriers that perpetuate inequality, we work towards lasting improvements in the social and economic landscapes of our communities.

Equitable Access to Resources & Opportunity:

From our workforce development training with Urban League to our Inclusive Innovation Center, we focus on reducing barriers and fostering opportunity. By expanding access to resources—whether for small business owners, future community coaches, or underserved families—we are helping communities build a sustainable foundation for economic and social success.

Continuous Research & Innovation:

Our commitment to understanding the evolving needs of our communities drives our research initiatives. Programs like our Evidence for Action grant partnerships enable us to evaluate our interventions' effectiveness and explore innovative practices for advancing racial and economic equity. Our data-driven approach ensures that our strategies remain effective, adaptive, and impactful.
